PSU oil companies are not at all interested in supplying LPG by
pipeline to domestic households, as it will cut into their share of the
loot, from diversion of domestic LPG cylinders to commercial use, by the
distributors and will also significantly reduce these companies claim
of subsidy from government, thereby reducing profit.
It must be made mandatory by the government, for all new residential units, to have meter based supply of LPG, like electricity, through pipeline in the kitchen, before their plans are sanctioned. For old residential units too, the facility must be installed mandatorily, within a given timeframe.

This will bring down government's subsidy burden significantly, on actual usage basis, unlike
the present system, which has huge scope of manipulation and inflated
subsidy claim by these oil cos.
